The parliament of Ghana recently passed the Community Service Bill 2026 in July to introduce community service as an alternative to imprisonment. 
However, there are several non-custodial measures that remain underutilized in Ghana. 

In this article, Tracy explores the various alternatives to non-custodial sentencing that Ghana can explore in addition to community service and the need for a broader non-custodial sentencing framework.

On July 31–August 3, 2026, our outreach at the Junior Girls Correctional Centre combined a hands-on tie-and-dye/batik vocational workshop with a follow-up session on emotional well-being.
